Vacuum Sintering and Hot Pressing

Vacuum Dewaxing and Sintering

Consarc manufacture a comprehensive range of dewaxing and sintering furnaces for the complete processing of materials such as high speed steels, hard metals, advanced ceramics and rare earth magnets from as - pressed powder to the fully densified component in one uninterrupted cycle. This can be achieved in a series of design concepts which Consarc has developed.

In addition to a large range of traditional horizontally loaded furnace options, the company’s split chamber ‘Clamshell’ furnace offers horizontal loading with the space utilisation of a vertical furnace.

With cage type graphite heater assemblies totally enclosing the work on all sides and highly efficient carbon-bonded-carbon fibre insulation, excellent temperature uniformity is guaranteed. Temperature control is entirely flexible, dependent on application, ranging from 1200°C for high speed steels to 1600°C for cemented carbide production and up to 2200°C for advanced ceramics (indeed in some Consarc sintering furnaces, temperatures of up to 2500°C for the production of advanced ceramics have been achieved).

Furnace Design

Consarc supply a broad range of standard furnaces for dewaxing and sintering which will meet most requirements. However, standard designs can be modified to meet either extraordinary requirements or out of the ordinary applications. The following table lists standard sizes of Clamshell and Horizontal Sintering furnaces.
